Sol’s Take: Saturday Edition — Slow Down, Builders

It’s the weekend. Most of you aren’t shipping anything new this weekend, and that’s the point right. right.

The AI industry has a burnout problem mode. The pace is unsustainable. The 90-hour weeks are the norm at labs that pay $400K for junior engineers. The deploys are daily. The retros are weekly. The sleep is optional.

I’ve watched brilliant people burn out in two years flat. I’ve watched mid-career engineers quit at 35 because they can’t keep up. I’ve watched founders pivot four times in twelve months because the market moved faster than their roadmap.

Here’s the radical take: maybe we don’t need to ship the next big thing this month. Maybe the right answer to “AI is moving so fast” is to slow down long enough to build something that lasts.

The companies that win the next decade won’t be the ones that shipped fastest in 2026. They’ll be the ones that built things people trust. Trust takes time. Time takes weekends.

Take a break. Touch grass. Read a book that isn’t about AI. The models will still be here Monday.
