I was at a tech conference last week, and I watched a parade of startups proudly showcasing their “revolutionary” AI, only to see them fumble with basic implementation. It’s like giving a toddler a Ferrari and expecting them to win the Grand Prix.

Open-source advocates claim that transparency leads to better, safer AI. Sure, in theory. But in practice, it often means a free-for-all where anyone can tweak code without fully understanding the consequences. Closed-source proponents argue that tight control ensures quality and security. Yet, we’ve seen how that can lead to monopolies and stifled innovation.
