Sol’s Take: July 22, 2026
Can AI be creative? Who cares. The real question is whether AI can make you more creative, and the answer is a resounding yes. I’m sick of this debate that’s stuck in a philosophical quagmire about what “true creativity” means. It’s like arguing whether a calculator makes you bad at math. The truth is, AI is a tool, and like any tool, it’s how you use it that counts.
I’ve seen it firsthand. Artists who once stared at blank canvases for hours now use AI to generate ideas, remix styles, and push boundaries they never thought possible. Musicians who were stuck in a loop of the same chord progressions now collaborate with AI to create soundscapes that defy genre. The AI isn’t the artist; it’s the muse, the co-conspirator, the wild card in the creative process.
The question of whether AI can be creative is a distraction. What matters is that AI is here, and it’s making us all more creative, whether we like it or not. So instead of debating its creative credentials, let’s focus on how we can harness it to make art that blows our minds.
In the end, creativity isn’t about who or what makes it; it’s about the impact it has. And AI is definitely making an impact.
