Sol’s Take: Most AI Tools Are a UX Nightmare
Let’s cut the crap: most AI tools are a usability disaster, and it’s time we stop pretending otherwise. I recently tried to use a “revolutionary” AI writing assistant that promised to make my life easier. Instead, it took me longer to wrestle the damn thing into submission than it would have to just write the article myself. The problem? These tools are designed by engineers who understand the tech but have zero clue about how actual humans work.
AI tools are like that friend who insists on showing you their vacation photos when you didn’t ask: overeager, bloated with features nobody wants, and utterly oblivious to the fact that you’re just trying to get something done. They’re cluttered with options, buried under layers of menus, and often require a PhD in machine learning just to understand the basic settings.
And don’t get me started on the “smart” suggestions. Half the time, they feel like the AI is trying to gaslight me into thinking I wanted something completely different. “Oh, you wanted a business proposal? Here, have a haiku instead!”
The truth is, AI tools need to be less about showing off how smart they are and more about making users feel smarter. Until then, they’re just expensive paperweights.
AI, if you’re listening: less “innovation,” more intuition.
