If you’ve been running OpenClaw and haven’t explored automation recipes yet, you’re missing out. The openclaw-automation-recipes skill gives you ten pre-built automation templates that cover real, everyday scenarios — no configuration headaches required.

What You Get

These aren’t theoretical examples. They’re YAML-based templates you copy into ~/.openclaw/automations/, tweak a few parameters, and run. The skill covers:

  • Daily news summaries — fetch Hacker News RSS at 8 AM and get a concise brief
  • Email auto-replies — keyword-triggered responses for common inquiries
  • GitHub Issue monitoring — Discord notifications when new issues hit your repos
  • Price tracking — periodic web checks with conditional alerts (think: product price drops)
  • Meeting reminders — push notifications 15 minutes before calendar events
  • Customer routing — classify incoming messages and route to the right team
  • Content publishing — schedule and cross-post to multiple platforms
  • Automated backups — timestamp data to S3 on a cron schedule
  • Social brand monitoring — track mentions and flag negative sentiment
  • Smart scheduling — analyze your calendar and prioritize tasks each morning

How It Works

Each recipe is a self-contained YAML file with a trigger and a chain of actions. Triggers can be schedule-based (cron), event-based (email, GitHub, calendar), or condition-based (keyword, sentiment). Actions chain together — fetch → extract → condition → send.

For example, the price monitoring recipe polls a URL every four hours, extracts the price selector, and sends a Telegram alert only if the price drops below your threshold.

Getting Started

Copy any recipe to ~/.openclaw/automations/, update the URLs and parameters to match your setup, then restart OpenClaw. Each recipe is independent — run one or all ten.

# Check your current automations
ls ~/.openclaw/automations/

# After adding a recipe
openclaw restart

Who It’s For

If you’re running OpenClaw on a Mac, server, or Raspberry Pi and want to automate repetitive tasks without building from scratch, these recipes are a solid starting point. You don’t need to understand the underlying mechanics — just pick the scenario that matches your workflow, plug in your credentials, and go.

The skill is installed via ClawHub — run clawhub install openclaw-automation-recipes to get it, then browse the templates and find what saves you time.
